JPG to SVG Converter —
Clean Vectors from Compressed Images

Turn any JPG or JPEG into a crisp, scalable SVG. Vector Squid's colour analysis absorbs JPEG compression noise automatically, so even heavily compressed logos trace clean. No uploads — everything runs privately in your browser.

Built for the Way JPGs Actually Look

JPEG compression is the enemy of clean tracing. Vector Squid was designed around it.

🧹

Noise-Aware Colour Merging

JPEG artifacts create dozens of near-identical shades around every edge. Vector Squid merges them back into their true base colour before tracing — no speckled, fragmented output.

🖼️

Logo Mode

Traces bold shapes and samples the true colour per shape from your original JPG. A compressed 3-colour logo comes out as a 3-colour SVG, not thirty.

📸

Photo Mode

Converts JPG photographs to smooth SVG splines with rich colour depth — ideal for posterized wall art and print graphics.

✂️

Add Transparency

JPGs can't store transparency — but your SVG can. Remove the background before vectorizing and download a fully transparent vector.

🔒

100% Private

Your JPG never leaves your device. All processing uses WebAssembly in your browser — no server, no storage, no risk.

Auto-Detect Mode

Vector Squid analyzes your JPG and picks the right tracing mode — logo, illustration, line art or photo — before you click anything.

FAQ

Is this JPG to SVG converter really free?

Yes. Unlimited JPG to SVG conversion is free — no account, no watermarks, no daily limits. Pro adds extras like bulk convert and vector PDF, EPS and DXF export.

Does my JPG get uploaded to a server?

No. Vector Squid runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your image never leaves your device.

Why does my JPG trace worse than a PNG?

JPEG compression adds blocky noise around edges and in flat colour areas. Vector Squid's colour analysis merges these near-identical noise shades back into their base colour before tracing, so compressed logos still come out as clean flat-colour vectors.

Can I convert a JPG photo, not just a logo?

Yes. Photo mode traces gradient-rich JPGs into smooth colour splines, and Illustration mode handles flat artwork. Auto-analyze picks the right mode for you.

JPG has no transparency — can I still get a transparent SVG?

Yes. Use Remove BG in the Edit tab (or the Remove background option when vectorizing) to strip the background first — the resulting SVG has no background rectangle at all.
